Diese mit patriotischem Kitsch gef\u00fcllte Betonkonstruktion erinnert an die Schlacht am Pichincha, die dort oben am 24. Mai 1822 stattfand. Damals besiegten die Truppen von Mariscal Sucre die Spanier und erk\u00e4mpften damit die Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit des\u00a0 Gebietes, das sich 1830 als Staat Ecuador gr\u00fcndete. <a
